@SRC_CRS We also find evidence that this novel GATOR1/2- GSKβ nutrient sensing pathway controls cell survival under low nutrient conditions, which could reveal new strategies to target certain tumors.

@SRC_CRS What is unique about amino acid control of GSKβ is that this regulation is independent of mTORC1, and hence this signaling pathway controlling GSKβ deviates from the canonical GATOR1/2-RagA/B-mTORC1 signaling pathway.

@SRC_CRS Specifically, we found that the nuclear levels of GSKβ are controlled by amino acid availability and required the amino acid signaling complexes GATOR1 and GATOR2.

@SRC_CRS Previous work showed that targeting of glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSKβ) to the nucleus under specific conditions gates the ability of GSKβ to control transcription factors like c-myc. We now find that cues derived from cell metabolism regulate the nuclear levels of GSKβ.

I am delighted to share our latest preprint!. In this work led by Diana Schwendener Forkel and supported by @SRC_CRS, we find a new mechanism by which cells adapt to changing nutrient availability to promote cell survival.

A real pleasure to hear all about #pannexins in cancer in a great seminar by @DrSilviaPenuela during her visit to TMU this week!
Glad to be on @VIA_Rail to Toronto instead of driving this morning. Don’t worry @CostinAntonescu I’m almost there
