We need to call out these scams more. There is no understanding to be found here, just AI responses and a grift for money to buy a fake course that does nothing to help people understand these systems. Preying on the desparate. Sad.

After a month of hard work, I’ve basically mastered the core of PostgreSQL. Nothing beats learning by doingβ€”you actually see what happens and understand why, which is way better than just reading books. In short: practice and exploring >> reading alone.

I'm seeing a small anecdotal resurgence of Ada in the embedded world among folks that have side projects. Quite pleasing tbh.

Yes. Users or your team don't care. Just don't spam the repos with your configs and we'll all get along fine.

Good read though more a general summarization article that many will not find new info with. Great to see terms laid out for review. The key sentence imo: . > The urge to simply remove all data copies is understandable, as storage cost is a factor. But there are so many other.

There's been some talk around storage unification and zero-copy lakehouse integrations recently, and I wanted to better define these terms as well as look at ways we should evaluate different design decisions in this space. So I’ve published a new post: A Conceptual Model for.

@thdxr false, CEO of Anthropic has said that 90% of code will be written by AI by the end of september.

Prefacing this by saying yes this is probably useful to many. And I have no hangup with the developer for helping make people have fun coding. But it is equally saddening.

We hacked Gemini CLI, Vertex AI, Assistant, and other AI systems by embedding prompts into images that are not visible to users.

Agree, and just think about how many hours engineers spend to automate tasks that were simple to do themselves. XKCD still and always relevant.

AI demonstrates the sunk-cost fallacy perfectly: Just one more "this doesn't work!" prompt, you think, and it'll fix it!! But often it won't, and now you've wasted 30 minutes begging that you could have spent learning how to actually fucking do it yourself.

And yeah mistake by me assuming connectivity to the address. As mentioned in the thread set it to non blocking then use FD sets and a select or some polling as needed to timeout.

@sec_hub93028 made a very simple form of this in about 10 min while on break. You can just do things though I wouldn't blindly use this as I'm sure it's not perfect. Enjoy.

Someone at slack got paid to make this nonsense for an error page. Was the goal to get people distracted as much as possible from their work?. Cute, but deeply unserious.

Want partial (de)serialization for some reason? Add a presence bit field, enumerate your fields as bit flags and boom you have like 90% of what you'd use flatbuffers or whatever dumb serialization protocol for.

It saddens me the amount of people that say "i need ultimate performance" and then use flat buffers etc. over direct serialization. Come on it's not that hard and you get way better performance on (de)serialization!.

Genetically, I should be bald. But I’m not. I've worked very hard to maintain my hair. I've tried a lot of things over the years to stop hair loss and grow strong healthy hair. I’ve injected PRP and dutasteride into my scalp way too many times. That hurts like hell and I

People are swinging too far to the opposite side on the library use discussions. The og point of libs was to both contain logic and enable cooperative and separable development from a wider net of developers. Ofc nowadays you have abusers that spam libraries, but the og spirit.
