A Care and Reception Center remains open at Santiago High School (1395 E Foothill Pkwy). Pets and children are welcome, and the center will stay open until evacuation warnings are lifted.

The Airport Fire continues to spread with the southeastern fronts showing the most growth. As of this posting, there remains no active threat to Corona and no evacuations have been issued within City limits.

SCE: To reduce the load on the remaining equipment, energy conservation is needed. Without sufficient reduction in energy use, limited, temporary interruptions lasting approximately an hour are possible.
As record high heat continues, we encourage customers to conserve energy to help reduce strain on the electric grid. Click for a list of helpful energy conservation tips.

Currently, no damage within the City of Corona, but we will continue to evaluate and assess. This is a great reminder to our community that earthquakes may happen anywhere you work, live, or travel in California. The best practice in an earthquake is to drop, cover, and hold on.

Did you feel that shake? This afternoon at approximately, 1:49 PM, a light earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.1 struck in Southern California. The epicenter was located 9 km SW of Corona, CA, with a depth of 2 km.

The department is seeking the public’s assistance with locating Betancourt. Betancourt is a Hispanic male, 5’-09” in height, weighs 170 pounds, and has distinctive “animal print” tattoos on the left side of his face.

During the ensuing fire investigation, surveillance video was found which captured an adult male setting several fires, before walking away. The suspect was later identified as Eduardo Betancourt of San Bernardino, CA. Betancourt was last seen in the 1600 block of W. Sixth St.

On the morning of Friday, September 1st, Corona Police Department and Corona Fire Department units responded to a fire in the area of W. Sixth St. and Yorba St. A fire with suspicious circumstances, was discovered burning on the property.

California Task Force-6 (CATF-6), which includes 8 members of the Corona Fire Department, was deployed to Maui to assist in the disaster relief and recovery efforts on the island. CATF-6 is 1 of 28 regional teams that specialize in USAR operations.
