Leaving Alberta with some great connections. I really appreciated the warm welcome I received from the folks I met with from across the sector, and from my counterpart, Minister @RjSigurdson. Like I said many times this week — I’m already looking forward to coming back.

Caught a bit of the rodeo with Minister @DarylHarrison20 from Saskatchewan this afternoon. The Calgary Stampede brings people together from across the country and around the world, and while it wasn’t the most formal venue for a ministerial meeting, it sure was a lot of fun.

Cet après-midi, j'ai assisté au rodéo avec le ministre @DarylHarrison20 de la Saskatchewan. Le Stampede de Calgary rassemble des gens de tout le pays et du monde entier, et même si ce n'est pas le lieu le plus formel pour une réunion ministérielle, c'était vraiment très amusant.

So impressed by the work being done at W.A. Ranches. It's more than just a research facility, it's a working cow-calf operation with 19,000 acres and a herd of around 900 where students can become experts in animal welfare and what it takes to raise the best cattle in the world.

Alberta is home to a wide range of crops and dedicated farmers who take a lot of pride in growing some of the best in the world. Thanks to Devin Hartzler for opening up his gates to me and folks from across the province's crop sector for a really good conversation this morning.

It’s taken generations of hard work to make Alberta the leader it is when it comes to quality beef production, and this afternoon, @albertabeef brought together the folks who will lead the sector into the future.

Calgary Stampede CEO Joel Crowley said it best — Every day is Agriculture Day at the Calgary Stampede. I really enjoyed touring the grounds this morning, meeting with producers, and seeing all of the kids learning more about agriculture and where our food really comes from.

Now into its second year, the Taste of Western Canada event brings together international buyers and Canadian food companies from Manitoba to British Columbia to show off some of the best products we have to offer. Great to see so much interest and good connections being made.

It might be my first time at the Calgary Stampede as Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, but it’s not my first time flipping pancakes. Thanks to all of the volunteers who are out every morning serving up delicious pancakes to folks here in downtown Calgary.
