While 9% VAT rate very welcome for pubs serving food, there is nothing in #budget2026 for traditional drink-only pubs. They are in urgent need of support, that's why we proposed the Draught Excise Rebate scheme @Paschald @jackfchambers

While I welcome the cut to food Vat to 9%, it should be implemented with cost increases from January. It’s disappointed that @Paschald didn’t mention our targeted ‘Draught Excise Rebate’ for traditional Irish Pubs and again added costs to an already struggling sector. @VFIpubs

Supermarkets don’t need help. Rural pubs do. The Draught Rebate Scheme is on-trade only, capped at €20k, and targeted where it matters most. Budget 2026 is the make-or-break moment for community pubs. #SupportRuralIreland #Budget2026 https://t.co/6yoA96sQXg @Paschald

A typical rural pub selling 250 kegs a year would gain a lifeline under the Draught Rebate Scheme. Not a windfall — a lifeline. Enough to keep doors open, jobs protected and lights on in communities nationwide. Government must act. #DraughtRebate #RuralPubs

Rural pubs are on the brink. Rising wages, energy and insurance costs are crushing small, drink-led businesses that won’t benefit from VAT 9% relief. The solution is simple: a Draught Rebate Scheme. Targeted, fair, capped — it keeps rural pubs alive. #SaveOurPubs #Budget2026

Ireland already has one of Europe’s highest hospitality VAT rates. Reinstating the 9% VAT rate keeps food affordable, protects jobs and helps rural pubs stay viable. The Government must deliver in #Budget2026.#FairVAT #RuralPubs @Paschald @jackfchambers

Food-led pubs have been hammered by a 50% VAT increase since 2023. That’s on top of soaring wages, utilities and insurance. Reinstating VAT at 9% is not optional — it’s essential. Without it, more rural pubs will close their doors. #VAT9 #SaveOurPubs @Paschald @jackfchambers

‘the Defamation Bill 2024, which is due before the Seanad tomorrow, does not go far enough to protect businesses’ from the unfair costs they incur for just asking someone for proof of purchase. There’s still time for Senators to help local businesses. https://t.co/DvSQZUoQQl
