This isn’t the first time I’ve gotten screwed by American Airlines. Such an awful company.

I told her that filing a complaint would not lead to fast enough action, and she assured me that I would be able to get it resolved today. I file the complaint. The automated response says they typically respond within 7-10 business days, but due to high demand, it’ll be longer.

After arguing with me and repeating that there’s “no record” of this supposed conversation, she tells me to file a formal complaint with American, and they can change the flight for me.

The supervisor (after escalation) tells me there is “no record of the phone call I’m referencing” (when all these calls are recorded) and there’s absolutely nothing she can do.

We get back on the phone and I’m told it’ll be $3,000 to change our return flight. I explain what I was told and when I called.

The agent said yes, because our schedule changed due to no fault of our own, they wouldn’t charge us. I then proceed to verify hotel availability before changing the flight, book it, then call American back.

American Airlines is the shadiest airline out there. We got bumped from our flight this morning and rescheduled onto a redeye with four kids. I called American to ask if we could change our return flight without cost so that we could extend the trip and make up the lost time.
