And as dumb of a kid as I was, some part of me knew that couldn't be true. Somehow "Baptists" got it "right?" And Catholics, Mormons, Protestants, Jews, etc, got it wrong and were going to Hell? And what about non-Christian religions?! The script changed. Heaven got restrictive.

Does this even happen anymore? I'm sure there are still good churches that do this without preaching vitrol, but I also remember the atmosphere changing as I got older. By the time I was a teen, I stopped wanting to go to church because it had become "we're right, they're wrong".

There was very little preaching at these events. A prayer before pizza and maybe a quick; "Jesus is the embodiment of love. We are doing this in His name because to be loving is to be Christ-like. Everyone deserves love." pep-talk and then off we went; sewing and cooking.

Imagine! Imagine a world where no child ever has to know what it's like to go hungry, no matter their background. There is NO REASON a child should ever wonder if they're going to have food tomorrow. Imagine being so fucking evil that you vote against kids having food.

I may have done this when I was a stocker at grocery store, years ago. If it wasn't on the shelves, we don't have it. I'd tell them as much and if they insisted, I'd go back and just start stocking the dairy section from behind the shelves and carry on.

LPT for Retail Workers: If an annoying customer asks you to "go check in the back". Just go. Go to the back ...and then just stay back there. Or slip out through other doors and carry on with whatever you were doing before.
