Ooh now here’s an unusual one: not a diocese this time, but a badge for Readers in the Royal Navy. Are there equivalent badges for the army and RAF, I wonder?

Was suspicious for a long time bc everywhere I looked in my tree & others, I couldn't find any close early contact. My nan was cute & cared; she knew many Tas Aboriginal family names & I grew up with some of those kids. I guess in time more will be revealed 🤷♀️ what a journey! 😴

in rural QLD in my late teens & knew the names of huge multi-gen ranch owners & they are very very far from being anything like my people who were always battlers. World's apart in every way possible - were then & still are now. Real people are intersectional, not essentialist.

Majority of convicts don't even come close to being like settler colonists; hardly the means to be. Lumping them together is not credible or academic. Search on this list for links to Australian convict families 🤷♀️ I worked in service to property owners /1 https://t.co/qRpmeIlE6S

Per % pop # wise Scottish names pop up way more often than the English when looking into colonies, indentured or slave labour use, plantation owners. Found the same when looking at class in Malaya many years ago. Pastoralist John Macarthur - also a Scot.🤔 https://t.co/3BPM8CDVku
