This year I’m anticipating around 27-32 HEO players getting selected compared to 19 in 2020, 24 in 2019, and 25 in 2018. It’s a strong draft year for the area and I see a group of about 22 players getting drafted with another 18-20 players after having a decent chance.

Spent the morning watching the Renfrew/Pembroke scrimmages and Renfrew LW Connor Clattenburg is a player to watch for the 2021 OHL Draft. Terrific skater, high-end skill, and was one of my favourite players to scout last year in Maj Bantam.

Biggest surprise for me was Renfrew’s Griffin Gagnon going undrafted. Had him as my 13th ranked prospect. Two-way defender that was often overshadowed on a deep Renfrew team. Also thought Maverick Hayes (PEM), Xavier Beauchamp (PEM), and Mikayil Kahriman (REN) would get drafted.

Been very impressed with NEP forward G Daher (02) over the last month. He has elevated his game to another level and this is the best hockey I’ve seen him play in 2 years. Was dominant every time he touched the puck tonight in Nepean’s 4-3 win over Smith Falls.

Navan with a 3-1 win over Ottawa. Shaan Kingwell (07) led the way offensively for Navan, scoring a highlight reel goal and generating a few other chances. Anthony Allain-Samake (07), Oliver Plante (07), and Noah Paddock (07) stood out for OJS despite the loss.

Nepean with the 5-1 win over Navan. The line of Benoit-Posthumus-Dewar was outstanding for the Raiders. Navan’s Nathan Villeneuve (06) scored a highlight reel SH goal and played with high-end pace/intensity. Goalie Jaden Cholette (06) was very solid.

Renfrew defeats Brockville 13-3. Tough game to evaluate but Kent Moors (05) was dominant and should be a high pick in the U18 Draft. Despite the loss, I was impressed with the work ethic/compete from Braves fwds Jordan Laroda (06)/Hunter McKnight (06).
