long time, no 'tweet'! I'm looking for a new LED light source for my microsocope set up. It has been a long time since I last looked in to this having had a Burnel cold light source for many years but which has died. Anyone with any reommcnedation for alternatives?

Staffordshire is home to one of the scarcest of all the dragonflies, the white-faced darter. It is so scarce that reintroductions have taken place to former sites in Cheshire to try to support the declining species. It can be found in Staffordshire at Chartley Moss SSSI.

As wood ants become increasingly rare, there R things we can do. 1 is actually move nests from sites with strong populations & (re-)introduce them to other suitable woods. @ConopsEnto did just this. Moving wood ants is tried and tested. Need to consider this in Staffs.
Not long now B4 wood ants wake up & cluster on top of their nests 2 warm up in the early spring sunshine.Staffs holds a regionally important population of these scarce ants.U can find them at just 3 sites in Staffs, 1 is @CannockChaseNL who'll B @SISF_2025 this year.

1 of the most rewarding parts of being an invertebrate ecologist is helping create new habitat for species. Here is a site @ConopsEnto advised on 2 help rare dingy skipper butterflies. There is now a thriving colony of the species using this new site.

Staffordshire is of regional importance for its populations of the red wood ant. Not long now before they will start to emerge on sunny spring days to warm up en masse. @bwars2000 @CannockChaseDC @CannockChaseNL @Lichfield_DC @StaffsInverts@bugbotherer @ConopsEnto @bugbotherer

Landlocked Staffs has a host of mobile sand species (I really don't like 'coastal' as a definition for lots of species associated with dune systems as it isn't really true). Inc. the below there is a raft of bees usually found at the coast. See you @SISF_2025 on March.
This sparklingly silver stiletto fly is Acrosathe annulata. It usually lives on sand dunes at the coast. There is however a population of this usually coastal fly right in the middle of England, in south Staffordshire.

I dont suppose anyone has anymore pics of great sundew in Britain, especially if theyre taken on a raised bog?
I’m looking for pictures of Great Sundew (Drosera anglica) with a wider shot of the habitat - not sure if anyone can help? I’m currently doing a literature search which may help with reintroduction efforts of this Endangered beastie…🌱❤️
