6 days into the tournament and we are STILL seeing goals called back because a player’s shooting string is a little too long. I simply do not understand how every team is not on top of this rule at this point. It’s been a rule for 8 years.
It’s shocking how many teams get dinged with illegal sticks in international lacrosse because their strings are too long even though everything else is legal. You see it at every event. Teams really need to tighten that up. It’s such an easy fix.

IF we see upsets (and that’s a big if), this is how it happens:. PR will need to score… a LOT. Haudenosaunee will put up serious points, the PR offense needs to keep pace. Japan will need to keep the game low scoring, win face offs, and play disciplined/patient team lacrosse.
U20 @WorldLacrosse quarters begin at 8pm ET today. 4 Haudenosaunee VS 5 Puerto Rico.3 Australia VS 6 Japan.2 Canada VS 10 Jamaica.1 USA VS 8 England. CAN/USA should win very comfortably. AUS/HAU heavy favorites - an upset is highly unlikely not completely out of the question.

So… @TeddyJenner Both the USA/CAN and the Aussies/Haudenosaunee games were tight and exciting, but with so much on the line here, this has to be the game of the tourney so far, eh?. Let’s hope it keeps up in the second half & maybe we get another golden goal gem! A man can hope.

Below seeding and projected games are set. Will we see some competitive games in the play-in matches? I’ve got PR, Japan, Ireland and England winning these games. But Jamaica could upset Ireland. Either way that game should be a banger!.
Likely seeding for playoffs based on record and differential in pool play:.1 US.2 CAN.3 AUS.4 HAU.5 PR.6 JAP.7 IRE.8 ENG.9 MEX.10 JAM.11 GER.12 NED. Play in games would be PR vs NED,.JAP vs GER, IRE vs JAM, ENG vs MEX. Ireland vs Jamaica seems like the best potential match up.

Obviously games between the top 4 teams in the U20s are the best games & the skill is incredible, but my favorite team to watch has to be @KenyaLacrosse - it’s HOW they play: fast physical creative & FULLY committed. Do they make mistakes? Plenty. But they play HARD & I love it.

I haven’t seen a single person boldly theorize that Team USA “lost” their uniforms on purpose so they would be able to wear white jerseys in every game (white is better in extreme heat) and honestly, what happened? We used to be a proper country, with proper crazy people. Sad.
I expected a lot more high quality conspiracy theories from you guys about why the US U20s don’t have their official uniforms yet… and I’ve only seen a couple predictable red hat level takes. I’m not mad, just disappointed. I had high hopes and you really dropped the ball.

An important issue surrounding youth development is the sheer # of events that national teams attend. Field worlds (m&w), box worlds (m&w), 6s worlds (m&w), u20s (m&w), + regional qualifiers for box, field & now 6s is 14 events every 4 years. Leaves little time for development.
I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again… youth development is absolutely crucial if we want to see a competitive world lacrosse scene. Every team in the top 10 has players who have played since they were young. The rest… not so much. Much more effort/support is required.

So far there are 4 defined groups of talent at the 2025 WL men’s U20 championships. Tier 1 - US/CAN.Tier 2 - AUS/HAU.Tier 3 - ENG/IRE/JAP/PR/JAM/MEX.Tier 4 - everyone else. Teams 5-12 could play good games in the play in games, but most contests between tiers have been blowouts.
