Did you know that most rodent sperm have hooks? I knew I found the perfect postdoc to ask 'why' when I met @Kristin_Hook. Check out her new paper with undergrad, Lauren Wilke, asking if the hook helps or hinders sperm aggregation and motility: https://t.co/JqrJa2HXgn (1/5)

Alright everyone, here is the link! Our current honey bee semen cryopreservation method has a high upfront cost and is quite time consuming. Here we show freezing semen in nitrogen vapor can be faster, cheaper, and produces similar sperm quality. Enjoy! https://t.co/6wRW6A8BCR

Thought this should be revisited for March Mammal Madness 2021. The honey bee lives on in our hearts. #2020MMM #2021MMM
My former lab enjoys @2020MMMletsgo, and each year we are tasked with presenting our case for our mammal of choice. We learn about the mammal and have a lot of fun. I am now a honey bee researcher, so I am here to convince you of their wrath. CW: Knives, The Creation of Adam

Are black soldier flies a pest to honey bees? Probably not. Read more about it in my first publication!
Huge shoutout to our student @ConnorAuth for the publication of his first peer-reviewed publication on Black Soldier Fly infestations in Honey Bee Colonies! Way to go Connor! https://t.co/OFjihqVLkb

How many of those who insist that "science says there are just two genders" simultaneously reject what science says about anthropogenic global warming or COVID?

This headline is about a mechanism of meiotic drive. Can we really call these sperm competitors if they're produced by the same male? Discuss.

1/6 Social dynamics can be stressful, especially when vying for a mate. Ever wondered if that stress can affect reproductive traits? We did too! So, we tested it in two species of Peromyscus mice: the monogamous P. polionotus and the promiscuous P. maniculatus. #AnimBehav2021

Really excited this newest MacManes Lab paper, led by @t_annina, with important contributions from @heidisfisher @erezaterez @odudcha @RuqayyaKhan20 & others! Chromosome size affects sequence divergence through the interplay of recombination & selection
biorxiv.org
The structure of the genome, including the architecture, number, and size of its chromosomes, shapes the distribution of genetic diversity and sequence divergence. Importantly, smaller chromosomes...
