🔬Successful growth of Copper phosphide confirmed. Rietveld analysis uncovered excess Cu in the powder – around 20%. Potential P volatility during tube filling or high-vac pumping might cause this. Nevertheless, we proceed as planned🧪, given the excess Cu in the final product.

📝Yesterday, we discovered an error in the weighting of elements for Cu3P. 🧪Simple calculations can be tricky, but there is a simple solution!🐍Utilize the python package periodictable for a straightforward approach.💡See our procedure on Google Colab:

4/4 🧐 Analyzing our past post, we couldn't help but chuckle at the realization that there's much more phosphorous than copper😂. Check it out: .😄Even our followers didn't spot it! 😅.

1/4 🧵 Our crystal growth team is thrilled to be part of the quest for room-temperature superconductivity (RT-SC)! Today, we initiated the synthesis process for LK-99 🧪 the possible material with a critical temperature above the boiling point of water. #LK99 @matfyz.👇 thread

3/4📝A humbling admission: a mistake in our laboratory logbook led to mixing the first powders in the wrong ratio🤦 Such hiccups are part of the scientific journey but rarely reported. Nevertheless, the correct mixture is now in the furnace and we will continue our #LK99 attempt.

2/4 🔍Through a thorough search in the Pearson database, we confirmed the second unknown phase as Cu2P7. ✨Detailed Fullprof refinement unveiled a weight ratio of 5.48:1 (Cu2P7:CuP2). It seems like the elements were in ratio 1:3 and not 3:1 for Cu:P 🤔

1/4🌟Incredible teamwork! 🤝🔬 @Yifan_Lv nailed it with precise data plotting, while @Gilad02736300 spotted that our powder isn't Cu3P. 👏 Later, @TheLushMeadow & @AK1MARU__ discovered the presence of CuP2 and an intriguing unknown phase.🧩 Collaborative science at its finest!

2/2⏳ Several hours of pumping with a turbomolecular pump brought the pressure below 10^-6 mbar inside the tubes. The quartz ampules were then sealed using a special torch and put into the furnace! 🧁Yesterday's efforts are bearing fruit, in just an hour, we'll unveil the result.

4/4 📈Refinement results: Lattice parameters 8.465(1), 5.396(1), 6.952(1), affirming the right structure. A few unindexed peaks around 2θ=30° hint at impurity - but a small amount! We cherish #openscience and #datasharing - check our GitHub for raw data:🔗
