It's been brilliant to meet so many new children and parents today at the @JCAWakefield Summer Fair. I've loved chatting with the parents of the children who attend our after-school club there too. It's great to hear how much your children love coming to the club on a Friday.

Year 5 have excelled in Computing this afternoon. They designed and created a space game using PowerPoint. They have developed their knowledge of hyperlinks and used them within their games. @ComputingJca

Year 4 have had a great first day back! They have loved starting their new unit of computing where they are using the app @inkscape to create a tessellating pattern. We cannot wait to work on these to create a repeating pattern using different shapes and colours.

Year 4 are enjoying their computing unit ‘We are bloggers’. We have discussed different blogs and their purpose and have started to create our own on word. We have worked on editing the font, size and style of the writing and even added or own images @ComputingJca #blogging

In Year 3, we have been working on presenting skills in computing. First, we made a Popplet including facts about one aspect of the Vikings. Next, we created a script including timings and actions. We are looking forward to filming the videos next. @ComputingJca 📽️

Teamwork @JCAWakefield ... Our sessions allow children to work together to solve different problems. Children develop their social communication skills whilst working in pairs, sharing ideas and helping one another. We are developing so much more than lego builders. 👏👍🤖💜

In Computing, Year 6 have been programming our micro:bits to play songs that we can use inside our toys in DT. We have also been practising our matching of equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. #JCAComputing #JCADT #JCAMaths

Year 4 have loved learning to use the app ‘Garage band’ as part of our new computing unit ‘We are musicians’. Over the past two weeks we have learnt what a live loop is as well as using a sequencer to create a simple music rhythm 🎶 @SwitchedOnComp @ComputingJca

Forming learning links between @ComputingJca and DT ⭐️
Today, Year 5 used their compass skills to help create a Caesar Cipher. They developed their understanding of what a Caesar Cipher is and how it is used. They worked hard to make an accurate and purposeful tool, enabling us to encrypt/decrypt secret messages. @JCA__DT

Following the children's interests has lead us to our animal investigation project. 'What do different paws look like?' 'Are tiger stripes all the same?' 'How do tigers survive?' Reception have been inquisitive learners, asking lots of questions to drive their learning!✨

In Computing, Year 6 have been virtually visiting Egyptian landmarks. They have located these using Google Maps and researched and described these. It has particularly helped to bring some of our History learning to life! #JCAComputing #JCAGeography #JCAHistory

Year 4 have had a brilliant recap of their learning of colours in Spanish. We used @PlayBlooket to test our knowledge and then wrote our sentences using our key vocabulary.
