We're in for the literal long haul, because NCDOT now says I-40 is going to be closed for "months" between TN and NC. The typical detour via I-26 was also washed away in Unicoi County, so there's no longer any direct interstate access between our states: https://t.co/mvJYh1wr9m

My dad got internet enough on Beech Mtn to send this. This is the 'small creek' that runs by their house. Luckily no flooding in house (but the house is 12 ft above creek, and it came close, so...) They are at one of the highest elevations in Western NC.
