If we’re defining “elite at reading and writing” as becoming a journalism major who’s grinding out content for an online click farm, then yes, I agree, those professions will go the way of buggy whip makers. But who’s teaching kids to read and write just for that career?.

I’m extremely confused by these takes. Training to be “elite at reading and writing” is simply becoming good at critical thinking. It’s not some rare bespoke skill like candlestick-making, soon to be made obsolete by new technology.
