Week two of Beginner Photography Camp has begun!. Today, we had a lesson on real estate and architecture photography from @brettmtn and a lesson on street photography from @mdotbrown71. Then, we took a photo walk through the Z Garage and Parker's Alley!

Beginner Photography Camp Day 5 Recap!. Today, we were joined by @freep photojournalist @visualdavid! David gave us a tour of the Free Press office and spoke to students about how they can use photography to give people a voice. Then, we practiced our portraits at Campus Martius!

Beginner Photography Camp Day 4 Recap!. Today we were joined by coach Tyrell Boydston! We took a photo walk inside Book Tower and @ParlayDetroit, and then headed up to the top of a parking garage to practice landscape photography!

Beginner Photography Camp Day 3 Recap!. Today, we learned how to use ISO, shutter speed and aperture to properly expose a photo. We got some practice on our walk through Columbia Street. Thank you @SaharaDetroit for letting us take photos in your space!

Beginner Photography Camp Day 2 Recap!. This morning, we discussed local and historical photographers who inspire us and worked on labeling the different parts of the camera. Coach Sacred taught students about focal points, and they applied their knowledge with an exercise! 🏙️

Beginner Photography Camp kicked off today!. Campers learned about the history of photography and what makes up a photographer’s toolkit during a lesson from Coach Sacred. Then, they began exploring their cameras and learning how to shoot on auto mode during a photo walk!

Journalism Camp 2025 is complete! 🎉. We are so proud of this talented group of students who received their certificates today! By the end of the summer, they will all be published writers in @planetdetroitnews and Perspectives Magazine. Thank you to all of our wonderful coaches!

Journalism Camp Day 9 Recap!. We were joined by Alicia Nails this morning, who discussed @JIMWayneState! Then, we had a Zoom Q & A with @amy_parlapiano and our student Alexia handed out paper plate awards to her classmates! Finally, students had their last editing coach meeting.

Journalism Camp Day 8 was one to remember! . In the morning, @easkari joined us to talk about environmental reporting. Then, we rode the @qlinedetroit to the @DetroitRvrfrnt to hear from author John Hartig! We ended our day with a treat at @DetroitWaterIce.
