Weapons is both bad at delivering anything of thematic depth and also bad at just being a thriller movie. No reason to defend it on either end of the spectrum, so this discussion is pointless.
Just read a few WEAPONS reviews written by younger critics. They seem concerned the movie โisnโt about anything.โ This is what 10 years of โelevated horrorโhandholding has created. Itโs nice to reflect a bit rather than have the thing explained to you by a character.

early armored core games have literally the worst mechanic I have ever seen in a video game, where if you fail on specific missions the game will kick you to the title screen unwarned without giving you the chance to save your file. Single handedly makes the games unplayable.
