Hellof a question let me think on it longer but right off the top of my head: When I began coaching I would have struck a better balance between family, work, and hoops - it took me a long time to do that - have to be careful not to break your family when building a program.

Without their love and support, I simply would not have been able to coach. I got to win a WPIAL Championship coaching my sons and I got a hug from my daughter after every game her senior year. Hard to have it better than that❤️.THANK YOU MARS.1-2-3 TOGETHER🏀.

Being a coach is not easy To be successful there are many hours spent away from the ones we love most. For 26 years, I “stole”my family’s time and gave it to my basketball program. I can’t ever give my wife and children back that time, but I am blessed because they understood.

I am so proud to see what you all have done and excited to see what is next for each of you. No matter what, I will still expect you to be great husbands, fathers, friends, neighbors, and people. We all need “coaches” in our lives and I will be here for each of you.

Thank you to all the guys who have worn the Mars uniform over the years. It is through your talent, dedication, and toughness that our program is what it is today. The one attribute all of our teams had was togetherness and you guys bought in and built that culture.

Thank you to Scott Heinauer for taking a chance on me 26 years ago and supporting me as we built this program. Thank you to my coaching staff and all of the coaches in our youth program. We built a program that was integrated because of your knowledge, experience, and time.

Next year we return 8 lettermen and 3 starters. Our junior high and JV teams all had successful seasons, and we had 182 boys in our youth program. We have enthusiastic support from our AD, Principal, central administration, and staff. Mars is truly a special place to coach.

Our basketball program is coming off its 17th consecutive trip to the WPIAL playoffs. We have won 9 section titles, 2 WPIAL titles, and appeared in 2 PIAA championship games over the last 15 years. We have had 13 1,000 point scorers since 2006.

Unfortunately, due to a transitional opportunity at my business, I have resigned my position as boys’ basketball coach. This decision did not come lightly and I am disappointed that I am stepping away from coaching and working with kids.
