Few observations: *Veteran Official Brian O'Connell out there getting a sweat. *St. John's will push the pace and put pressure on the defense more than was seen last two seasons. *Ball movement, player movement + interior two-man game between Zuby/Hopkins all good early signs.

But there is nothing to lean on that’s signaling an improved culture. The same penalties and bad habits persist. I wasn’t there for any of the below seasons but 23-3 at Half vs. a bad team down 4 OL and a Top 5 Receiver in the NFL is non-competitive!

Repeat after me. Recruiting HS Players is about 10% of a Top Tier Program’s Recruiting Strategy. You still pay a ton and they either get drafted or transfer. Clickbait. Not substantive Championship-level recruiting.

The nuances of Gallo’s Zone are complex and thoughtful. I’d imagine the commitment to Zone stems from (1) Teams typically have much less Zone O than Man stuff (2) Opponents waste so much time and bandwidth preparing to play their Zone.

Dylan Darling is going to be a safety net from Day 1 at the PG position. Will be interesting to see how the backcourt as a whole defends without speed of Smith and length/hands of Richmond this year. Stands as my primary question mark. They will be able to score the ball. #sjubb
