Work up this morning with news that crushed my heart. My mom might not make it. Anyone who knows me knows she’s my world. This hurts like no other. To all my friends, coaching buddies and ex athletes please say a prayer for her, she really needs it. She’s my everything 🙏🏽

Just arrived!!! so damn proud of them Mathis kids on their accomplishments. Winning any kind of State in a sport in Texas is huge. Some people don’t consider Powerlifting a sport. There’s critics and haters everywhere. These kids put in work just as any kid in any other sport.

Today I turn 40, I have now been on this earth 14,521 days. My days are numbering as time goes bye. I have had alot of ups and a few downs along the way. I’m so appreciative of my family, friends & inner circle of coaching buddies. I hope the next 30 to 40 yrs are great. Blessed

On the way back from Cleburne,Tx and Regionals me and the family stopped at Bucees in New Braunfels,Tx. We somehow lost our remote car keys but didn’t realize it. We had a spare. Reached out to HC Coach Leonard at Canyon to see if he could swing by to see if they turned in.

It’s been a while since the Bobcats were 2-0. Started strong in the first half but didn’t play to our level 2nd half but a win is a win. Back to the drawing board and finding a way to get better on offense, defense and special teams.

Competition is intense this year in the 242 in Division 1. Goal is to hit PR’s and crack the Top 10. Not bad for a kid from the Barrio of the Southside of SA. A lot of people don’t know the struggle it is to be a inner city kid.

Have a bet that I won’t be in a Large Polo game day shirt week 1 vs McCollum. Went from 231 to 221 in two weeks. Goal is to get to 205-210. My college playing weight was 185. Been tough but been worth it. Got about two months left. Great running around my old neighborhood.

Was a crazy day, so proud of my student/athlete lifters at Mathis HS winning the Region 5 Division 2 Championship. This is the first time Mathis ISD has won the Boys Region 5 Championship. Congrats to all the kids in Reg 5 Div 2 advancing to state. Next stop is Abilene,Tx.🙏🏼💪🏼

Man so exciting seeing these Bigs get after it. Some of the best lineman in the city where here. Also some of the best coaches in SA were here as well. Kids got after it and competed their butt’s off. The South San Bobcats got 1st place and the Floresville Tigers got 2nd.💪🏼🏈🐾

First time in over a year I had both my daughters together under one roof. Time flying by and they growing up so quick. Love them both. They travel a lot with their Volleyball schedule so it’s hard to have them both at once. Love my girls.

Was on the Eastside so I decided to visit Sam Houston HS and the spot were they planted a tree for Coach Phil. I cleaned up the area around the plant and watered his tree and cleaned his name plate. Miss you buddy. Me and him won a lot of games at Sam Houston together.

Just learned about the 10-1 defense from the guru Aaron Ford from Celina High School. He is a humble and great guy, I stole a few ideas from him. I’m a 4-3/4-2-5 guy but I’ll run a little 10-1 vs a two back teams in the near future once I am DC again. “Life is a risk carnal”

Today marks 3 years ago I lost my father and best friend. I grew up in an area where all my friends didn’t have both their parents. My dad treated my friends growing up as if they were his. My father was the best ever. We miss you and love you. Continue to watch over us. 🙏🏼💪🏼❤️

My daughter Rylie Mae Ortega and Mommy are doing great and she will be here in May. At 6 months she’s almost 2 pounds, So excited for her to be here. Happy it’s a girl and happy I’m going to be a dad again. She will be a Future Burbank Bulldog or South San Bobcat haha. “Blessed”

Finally caught a basketball game of my first born. She did great 21 pts, 7 assist and 6 rebounds. Been awhile since we talked and spent time together. Felt good to catch up and talk after the game ❤️. Trying to convince her to come to South San or Burbank haha.

Thank you Mathis ISD for allowing our Seniors to go to Fiesta Texas. My neck and back are sore from all the rides but it was all worth it. Kids had a blast and made many more memories. Thank you administration and the teachers who helped chaperone. ✌🏼🤟🏼💪🏼

Had a busy weekend. Both these athletes hit PRs on all 3 lifts at the State Powerlifting Meet. Both seniors will be deeply missed. Both did things right in the classroom and in athletics. Genaro got 14th in the 242’s and Cesar 18th in the 275’s. Not bad for inner kids from SA 💪🏼

Man what a season. From coaching a State Championship team in 2021 to coaching a bunch of inner city kids who had no clue what the hell Powerlifting was. These kids hit PR’s all season, super proud of them. Had 2 first place finishers yesterday and a 2nd place. Got 5th as a team.

Today is my son turns 2. I was blessed with this energetic and wonderful son. He keeps me young and on the go. At times him and my 10 week old daughter drive me crazy haha but I wouldn’t change my life or them for the world. I hope he has a great day and all his wishes come true.
