During a 7 on 7 yesterday I saw a starting quarterback for a high school team rotate out but stay totally engaged. He offered encouragement and advice to the younger players on every play. He showed he cared. Tremendous example of genuine leadership.

In the nine seasons I worked with Steve Hayes he made me a better coach and a better person. Technically I was his boss, but he was truly my mentor. He was taken from us far too soon. Miss him always but especially at this time of year.
