Coaching is a service based industry. In the day of quick fixes, few will choose the long road, but the long road is often what is needed. I hope you enjoy this read as much as I've enjoyed being a part of this young lady's journey. @Kylie_2K9.

Development isn’t linear and it usually takes a series of events to come to the fork in the road. Do I want to do what’s necessary for my success or do I want to continue to wander aiml…

Cage Conversations: A 3 part video. Learning, feeling, understanding. Video 1: The demo and hand action is down. Add in the bodies rotation, and you get what you want. Video 2: When you understand how quick it is, it can shock you. Video 3: Better leverage will do this to you.

Mike T with an all timer! @thepivot. "I'm doing these dudes a disservice if I dont prepare them for what I know is waiting for them in stadiums.". You must prepare them as best you can (physically, mentally, and emotionally) for what's waiting for them in that stadium!

When you're in that place, you cant learn it yet. You have to learn why and how the bat works that way. Once you understand that, then you can attempt to try it. Thats the hardest part for people.

If you believe the bat gets delivered in front of your shoulders/body and have done it your entire life. When I tell/show you the bat gets delivered from behind the shoulders. You're not going to believe because logically it makes no sense to you.

IMO, the hardest part to get the brain to understand is what you need to do and why you need to do it. Why education is the most important piece. As soon as it logically makes sense to the brain, the body will do it. The brain accepts it as soon as it feels how much faster it is.

If you make an intentional swing change AND it is more efficient, you brain will accept the change. Intentional means you understand what you are trying to do and you can willfully execute a different movement. If it is truly more efficient, your brain won't do it the old way.

That urgency drives improvement and needs to come from both sides. The player, because they need the info and need to improve. The coach, because they understand the players' circumstances and timeline. Thats how special things happen.

"Coach Salters, you're so intense and detailed, that can make people uncomfortable. Why are you like that?".There is urgency in the playing game. There is a limited amount of time, based on your circumstances, for you to improve and show your skills.

We all want more. The world and culture has conditioned us to want more. Help the person standing in front of you. They are the most important. Others may come or they may not, it doesn't matter, the person in front of you is the one that needs you.

It feels weird because you've had to power or take the bat somewhere to provide force into the ball. When you realize you no longer have to do that, it is a strange but freeing feeling. The output (direction, EV, control) becomes greater than the input (extending, flexing).

It's effortless because your body, hands, and the bat are all working together, pressure in the right areas. You have to provide effort when you're working against yourself because you have to deliver the bat.

It gets much easier when you're working with and not against your body to deliver bat.

How you hold the bat and the way your hands put pressure on the handle matter immensely.

When you leverage the bat incorrectly, the arc and pivot point are off. You have to compensate from there. You can push/pull the bat and have no arc, or you can fling it and the arc be too big or long in the wrong place.
