Kids aren’t any softer today then they were when I was young. I coach a group of tough minded athletes. There were soft kids and tough minded kids in every era. Coaching isn’t telling kids what they are, it’s telling them what they need to do. I love working with this generation.

My son had arguably the worst game of his career as a Soph. We met after the game, looked at each other, I smiled & said, “well you sucked.” He laughed & said “I know, right.” Told him I was proud of him because he kept playing hard. We went home and grabbed a bite to eat.

I’m watching video earlier this week. My 8 yo asks what I was watching. I told him it was a floppy into a screen the screener. The next night he’s watching his brother play HS game and tells his mom that the other team ran a floppy into a StS. He got the floppy part right.

What does commitment to winning look like? Laying on the court during TOs while your teammates work a cramp out of your calf, playing as hard as you can, doing it all again at the next TO, making 2 FTs on 1 foot while we can see the contraction of your calf cramping.
