I didn't think America was anything special as a teenager. Then I went and lived in post-communist Eastern Europe for 2 years. We don't realize how good we have it here. America is a special place. Happy 4th.

Think your startup is too niche? This dude clears $50k/month by simply listing the correct order of book series on orderofbooks .com The site looks like Craigslist but has been updated consistently for a decade. Consistency beats a "good idea" 9/10 times.

The best way a college entrepreneur can give a sales pitch is to always reference the fact that they're in college. Lean into it while you can!

A business partnership is both harder and more likely to fail than a marriage. Yet before a marriage we date for months or years and in a partnership the dating usually looks like: “50/50? Cool? LETS GOOO!!” Destined to fail.

I'm not ashamed to admit I've purchased a couple iPhones for team members simply so I didn't have to look at those green bubbles every time we text.

Running, life and business are all the same. Just keep going. Keep taking in enough fuel to replace what you lost. Push through the pain. Enjoy the finish line but enjoy the struggle as well.

5. Success isn't linear. Sometimes I feel amazing at mile 76 and terrible at mile 22. It's a rollercoaster. Feeling bad now doesn't mean you'll feed bad forever.

4. If you have: - A baseline of training - A knowledge of how much fuel you need - Some mental toughness You can keep going forever.

3. Your brain tells your body where the finish line is. Science has suggested that runners hit "the wall" not when their lactic acid or carbs run out, but when close to the finish line. This is why the end of a marathon and the end of a 100 miler hurt about the same

2. Your thoughts control your body. The worse I feel, the more I tell myself "You're fine. Keep going. Your legs are fresh. You feel great." They're mostly lies, but my body starts to believe them. I'll repeat this for hours.

1. You can always go another step. No matter how broken or depressed you feel, you always have 1 more step in you.

I've run 13 ultramarathons and won a handful of them. Despite the average dropout rate being ~30%, I've never quit one. Doing this has taught me 5 critical lessons about life and business: 🧵

Go to Reddit and sell your product and you’ll get downvoted into oblivion. Go to Reddit and tell your scrappy startup story about the product you sell and you’ll get upvoted into the stratosphere. Works every time.

So you think your startup can't scale because of "factors outside of your control?" Dubai only had 44 measly miles of coveted coastline, so they built a freaking palm tree island and more than doubled it. When there's a will there's a way. $12B of oil money didn't hurt. 😂

Focus is overrated. My shiny object syndrome has led me to some of my life’s biggest opportunities. It also forces me to delegate and outsource faster and be more efficient.

This is dumb. Anyone with access to YouTube and a willingness to try something can be an entrepreneur. This is 2022. You don't need a bunch of money to start a business.

I’m in Abu Dhabi right now and learned an interesting fact. In the UAE, license plate numbers are used as status symbols. The fewer the digits, the more you pay and the higher the status. Kind of like short .com urls. 5 digits = broke 1 digit = woke Super cool.

There's only 1 big tree care franchise in the US (that I know of) - Monster Tree Service. Tree care has massive margins and lots of recurring revenue opportunities. Huge opportunity for someone to become the Lyft to Monster's Uber.
