None of this was mentioned in Exim's press release announcing McFerran’s appointment in March. The webpage appears to have been deleted after we sent the bank questions about him.

Evraz and Abramovich were sanctioned by the UK in 2022. According to ethics disclosures filed with the US government, McFerran was CFO at the subsidiary and worked there until March 2024. He also married into an influential Russian family with extensive ties to the Kremlin.

McFerran donated almost $1m to the Trump 47 Committee last year. He was appointed Exim's acting chief banking officer in March. He has said the “administration is committed to returning America to its place as the energy super power”
