A child wired for safety can learn. A child wired for danger is in survival mode. Until they feel safe, no amount of punishment will help them learn.

Therapeutic work isn’t “letting them get away with it”. It’s rewiring their entire view of the world. Rules still exist. Boundaries still exist. They're just delivered with predictability & safety, not fear & punishment.
