“The gas and livestock industries are some of the largest polluters, so this is a way for these companies to come up with persuasive narratives for why their business models can stay the same and still be consistent with climate action.” @RightToZeroCA

“We learned unambiguously that if you just take half the cars off the road, that cleans up the CO2 quite a lot, but CO2 doesn’t contribute to smog. It’s possible that with cars we’ll only be clean enough when we go all electric.” Prof. Ronald Cohen

Research shows all-electric buildings reduce utility bills by replacing gas heating w/ heat pumps, & reduce health risks by replacing gas w/ induction stoves. They are also cheaper to build by replacing 2 sets of energy delivery infrastructure with one.

The levels of air pollution often generated from cooking with gas would be illegal outside- but they're allowed inside. The takeway? Switch to electric or induction cooking if you can.

"So for a child, it matters where you live. It matters how much foul air you breathe in on days when there are no fires at all. It matters whether your family can afford an air purifier at home or whether they can whisk you away when ash rains down."

The US gas system has a major problem: it leaks—from wellhead to home. #TheGasIndex from @GlobalEnergyMon ranks cities by how leaky their gas supplies are. In #SanDiego, replacing gas furnaces w electric heat pumps would cut emissions by 86-95%!

Five years ago, gas plumed from the Aliso Canyon storage facility - making Porter Ranch families sick. @SoCalGas knew what was happening, yet they failed to act. @GavinNewsom must #ShutAlisoDown and put families first.
