Despite losing all water today, we still managed to gather our Year 6 children, their families and families within our Claypole community in St Peter’s Church for their Leavers Service.

The government have decided to make SATs more engaging and exciting so have reached out to celebrities to endorse them. The celebrities that the children of Claypole have been given is… @antanddec. What will the end of term assessments now look like?.

Thank you to our families who spent time supporting the children today at our ‘Track & Field’ Sports Day. Wonderful atmosphere from both sides of the track; lots of support from everyone; great resilience from the children - with everyone participating in the manner intended.

Mrs Coles set the children a STEM challenge this morning: to build the tallest freestanding structure possible using only spaghetti and marshmallows within a set time limit. A few of the marshmallows mysteriously went missing during the process… but mission accomplished!

The children have been using LBQ again: a clever customisable resource aligned to the National Curriculum and helps to ensure that teachers can support all their learners all the time!

Year 6 had an amazing day with @ymca Newark & Sherwood today: golfball, climbing, designing eco-friendly houses and ‘gaga’ ball. They supported each other and challenged themselves… impeccable behaviour and fun to be with!

We were hugely proud of our Y6 children’s progress & attainment this year – even before the #SATs results arrived back today. It’s a whole school effort that goes into attaining such results: with every adult playing their.part for the children to achieve their full potential.
