Despite some of the current rhetoric, it’s important to remember that a vast majority of Americans across the political spectrum believe political violence against elected officials is unacceptable. However, a small # of individuals (7%) do find physical violence acceptable.

Lastly, Black voters are not only more likely to take action to address climate change but are also less polarized in their perception of the government’s response, with just 8.1% stating that the government’s response is too strong.

Regardless of political ideology, gender, age, education, and income, support for climate policies appears to be greater among voters of color. In fact, Republican voters of color are 4 to 13% more likely to be concerned by climate change than all Republican voters.

In 36 out of 50 states, a greater percentage of Black voters have a high concern about climate change. Concern is particularly concentrated in northeastern and northwestern states where Black voters are more likely to believe that climate change is a substantial threat.
