Sunday was a rough day as far as injuries that could impact the NL playoff races. Austin Riley's hand injury is a killer for the Braves. Mets' Brandon Nimmo and Padres' Ha-Seong Kim getting shoulder imaging today. Freddie Freeman questionable for Dodgers due to finger issue. #MLB.

Mens USA Basketball finally looked like we thought they would today. AD and Ant-Man have been solid all along, but getting more solid play from some of the starters made a huge difference. Keep in mind, we haven't seen KD yet. He will make a noticeable difference.

Once the All Star game is over we will start hearing more serious rumors. Two moves feel inevitable to me. Jazz Chisholm to the Yankees and Garrett Crochet to the Dodgers both seem likely. The Yanks and Dodgers clearly in win-now mode with available trade capital. #MLB.

MLB game/festivities are the best All Star event in professional sports. The Home Run Derby is always fun. Celeb events are more relatable. And the game is the closest to a real game of any sport. I just wish they would go back to guys wearing their team uniforms for the game.

Yankees and Blue Jays tried to physically eliminate each other during their weekend series with nine HBPs. Safe to say the two teams aren't fond of each other! Their next series against each other is August 2-4. Something to keep an eye on.

Big things happening on the first day of NBA Free Agency. A couple of things stick out to me. 1. Paul George joins yet another potential super roster. 2. James Harden breaks up another super roster. 3. CP3 is mentor once again. 4. Sixers have reloaded, Atlantic Division stacked.

Brett Baty's numbers in Syracuse are absolutely ridiculous. The Mets put a corner OF on the IL and have a second baseman who is struggling miserably. Both are secondary positions he can play. Not sure why Baty wasn't recalled this week. He has clearly done all he can at AAA.

Jordi Fernandez falls in line as yet another great teacher of the finer points of the game. But this will likely be a severely inferior roster. How much patience will be given or will he be another scapegoat?.

The Nets have turned over coaches faster than you can count, losing some very good basketball people along the way. Letting players determine who will be coaching is a dangerous way to operate. Atkinson, Vaughn, Nash, and Ollie are all excellent teachers of the game.

The Brooklyn Nets have clearly signaled the beginning of yet another rebuild. Since the decision to acquire Harden in January 2021 have struggled to find any consistency. And Harden has struggled for postseason wins despite playing with some high-level teammates. A 🧵.

Here is hoping for good health for guys like Judge, Trout, Betts, De La Cruz, Cole, Skenes, and many more who could make a dent in this list down the road.

Nolan Ryan is a case study in endurance and toughness. He pitched with an attitude and opposing hitter were the victims. An exploding fastball mixed with a ridiculous 12-to-6 curve and the nerve to throw inside made him THE strikeout king.

Taking a deep dive into the year-by-year numbers gives evidence that Pedro is the GOAT starting pitcher. His win total is a bit skewed because of a lot of no-decisions with the Mets and Phillies, but his only "off year" was at age 36. Pedro was as consistent as they come.

It's probably a bit controversial to say a reliever can be considered this highly. dominance was indisputable. Add in his postseason numbers of 42 saves, 0.70 ERA, and 0.76 WHIP as evidence that "Mo" was the best.

Top three living GOAT pitchers. This one was much more complicated. 1. MARIANO RIVERA (2.21 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 652 saves).2. PEDRO MARTINEZ (2.93 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 219 wins, 3154 strikeouts).3. NOLAN RYAN (3.19 ERA, 324 wins, 5714 strikeouts).

Ken Griffey Jr is as likeable a player as there was. Great smile and always showed he was having fun. Sweet swing with power. Great speed. One of the best centerfielders to play the game. The closest thing to Mays that we've seen since his retirement.

Barry Bonds' involvement with steroid makes him a controversial pick, but his numbers are unmatched. He changed the way opposing pitchers approached any lineup he was in. Great plate discipline and ridiculous power. A plus baserunner and defender for the majority of his career.

Here's a 🧵with some data behind John's selections as current living GOAT hitters and pitchers. Tough to compare pitchers and hitters so I split them. Also, steroid era made this a tough one.
