I’ve uploaded a new pEEG video covering indices, raw EEG, DSA, drugs, ketamine, age and suppression. A great start for the EEG user keen to know more! Processed EEG in anaesthesia https://t.co/pt1WCl0X8W via @YouTube

invited to speak today to colleagues in Aberdeen for a bit of EEG chat focussed on Alpha - an incredible biosignal associated with cognitive performance, delirium and post-operative mortality.

Quite excited to find the first (?) recommendation to use EEG during TIVA with neuromuscular blockade - dating from 1951 from the pioneers of EEG Bickford and Faulconer in BJA. How strange this isn’t a standard of care 70 years later

In open hepatectomy, TIVA was associated with a substantially lower hazard of tumour recurrence or death; in laparoscopic surgery, it was not. A deeper exploration of these findings is required. #anaesthesia #medicine #oncology #healthcare

Great synopsis of evidence of different pain thresholds in redheads and MCR-1 gene. TIVA Divas of all hair colours will recall Doufas’ study demonstrating little difference with propofol but studies have demonstrated differing potency of volatiles.

A super app with a refreshingly clean UI. Well worth a play for all interested in TIVA.
2024 Recap (1) https://t.co/4zrK2ZezXO has introduced a number of features this year. In Jan, we have added a “preview box” to describe the upcoming infusion scheme as you input a new Target, so you can can adjust your pump settings in advance

2024 Recap (4) Do you prefer to use Schnider or Marsh model in TCI? https://t.co/4zrK2ZezXO has an “Eleveld emulation tool” that converts a Marsh/Schnider TCI infusion scheme into CP, CE & estimated BIS values as predicted by the Eleveld model. This helps to compare older models

My recommendation is to turn the filters OFF (second menu page) if possible!

I grumble about the heavy-handed 2Hz high pass filter on the BIS monitor which prevents visualisation of slow and delta oscillations [default: ON], I found reference (and warning!) to this from 1987! Pleased that @Medtronic are finally listening with incoming updates in 2025!
