How could anyone disagree with caring for children? Our future! . But some politicians / policies find a way. Defund public schools. Reject expansion of coverage. Outlaw access to safe sex education. Charge children as adults.

I would LOVE to worry less about who is in office. I’d also love to have more than 15 min with my patients. I’d love to see the children I care for graduate from high school at higher rates the incarceration rates. The world I would love to see doesn’t happen without sound policy.

I would love to not care about politics. I’d also love to have the ability to provide comprehensive care for all people without insurance dictating access to care. I’d love to just focus on the medicine and not how I can make sure my families have enough to eat.

I want to go back to Texas. I will go back to Texas. Politics drive policies that have created a hostile environment. What I do as a physician (who has spent YEARS training to care for young people) is under constant threat.
