When it was time for questions I asked "don't you think Gravity was a fun movie though?" and he yelled at me for 10 minutes.

I read 34 books in 2022 and they were all at least pretty good if not great. (Except for Fahrenheit 451, which is bad.)

I don't think we're quite in "Canada is broken" territory. as per Dimestore Pat Buchanan. But very few of our governments, including fedgov, seem inclined to care very much about basic functionality of existing services these days. All of them need to shape up.

Seeing a lot of US mayors leading by example here. Seeing a lot of photos of John Tory glad-handing indoors without a mask.

Mayor Eric Adams, donning a mask during a news conference at City Hall, urged New Yorkers to wear masks to protect themselves against a swirl of viral illnesses in the city, including Covid-19, flu and RSV.

I’ve been kicked off a lot of platforms: Friendster, MySpace (a few times), FourSquare, Tinder, and been suspended here at least twice in the past. But it still brings me a smile to have completely destroyed the entire Spaces functionality

Journalists who cover Elon Musk have been suspended on Twitter tonight: @Donie O'Sullivan from CNN, Aaron Rupar and the Washington Post's @drewharwell. Rupar tells me he has "no idea" why it happened.

When in the US, as I am now, I like to watch Fox News to get a feel for this exotic, foreign phenomenon I don't have at home. And it's so much weirder and worse than the impression I get from seeing Fox clips and quotes on Twitter.

Thankfully this is not the case. It only takes around 15,000 miles for an EV to reach parity with a similar size internal combustion vehicle, which is a bit over one year of typical use. https://t.co/1Rlql3qTEq Lets explore why in a quick thread: 1/10

Electric vehicles (EVs) are an important part of meeting global goals on climate change. They feature prominently in mitigation pathways that limit warming to well-below 2C or 1.5C, which would be...

Inconvenient fact about electric cars #1: If you drive it 60,000 miles… you put MORE carbon in the air than a gas powered car. Only after 60,000 miles do you use less.

Happening at Allen Gardens in Toronto RIGHT NOW. City workers trashing perfectly good sleeping bags and tents, intentionally breaking tent poles so they can't be reused, knowing full well they will turn away another 200+ people from shelter spaces today and tonight.

Realizing how much of parenting is pitching your voice *just right* so that your kids will acquise to requests like "put on your socks" and wondering if that's where the idea for the Bene Gesserit Voice came from.

Leah McLaren recently led off a Toronto Star piece depicting this as a consensual encounter. That piece was about rebutting her mother, Cecily Ross, who had accused McLaren of writing about Ross's sexual assault against her wishes.
