10/n As Carl Sagan eloquently said, "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." The journey of discovery, in itself, is a worthy purpose.

9/n So, the next time someone asks "what's the point?" about a seemingly theoretical pursuit, encourage them to look beyond the immediate application. The true value often lies in the "what did you learn along the way?"

#iteachmath 1/n Japan became the 5th country to land a craft on the moon. Many of the same people asking "what purpose does this serve" are the same people who question "when will I ever use (insert math lesson here)?"

Trauma-based entitlement is common in abuse – ‘I had to go through ... so f* you, you just have to deal.’ When the entitlement is confronted, there is this notion of being defied, of being humiliated – of being shamed. This is when insecurity, toxic shame and entitlement combine.

Men don’t abuse women because it’s OK. Men abuse women because society tells them they are in control. Society says that if they are not in control, they won’t succeed – if they fail to assert themselves like ‘real men,’ they will end up poor and alone.
