I also feel like I am one of the only people to remember this quote, but it was also pretty telling!
Working on the Obama years chapter for my FBI book (spoiler: there was no change we can believe in) and revisiting this incident. Now mostly forgotten, I think it really sets the tone for the entire Obama presidency.

Western liberal democracies certainly have a history of illiberal and undemocratic behavior, but watching this collective, transnational shredding of basic civil liberties in order to aid an apartheid state's genocide is really something to watch.
Palestine Action has now been proscribed by the UK Government and expressing support for them is a criminal offence. This includes chanting, wearing clothing or displaying articles such as flags, signs or logos.

NYT has a First Amendment right to run a story based on hacked materials, but comparing getting a college application from a twitter white supremacists with the heroic reporting of WikiLeaks and whistleblowing of Snowden about war crimes and mass surveillance speaks volumes.
Sometimes sources have their own motives or obtain information using means we wouldn't, like Trump's taxes, Wikileaks or Edward Snowden. It’s important to share what we can about sourcing, but we always independently assess newsworthiness and factual accuracy before publishing.

Many things you can say about Ro Khanna, but he certainly understands which way the wind blows. A low bar, but makes him a bit of a novelty amongst high profile Congressional Democrats.
Poll: Did our party's old guard this past week spend more time attacking @ZohranKMamdani or the Trump bill that is the largest Medicaid cut in history?.

Once upon a time, when Tulsi Gabbard was in Congress, her office asked if I could write legislation reforming the Espionage Act so government employees who spoke to the press about *classified* abuses of power could not be prosecuted for doing so.
It has come to my attention that Washington Post reporter @nakashimae appears to be actively harassing ODNI staff. Instead of reaching out to my press office, she is calling high level Intelligence Officers from a burner phone, refusing to identify herself, lying about the fact.

I filed two FOIA requests. One with State asking for internal reports and comms with Israel on the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, one with State and Defense about contractors in Gaza. We at @RightsDissent are working to expose our govt's role in Israel's killing fields in Gaza.
"The world has watched as Israel has first starved the Palestinians, then forced them to queue up for aid only to be massacred. The American people have a right to know the full extent of our government’s complicity in these crimes." . PRESS RELEASE:

If Fetterman would like to go home perhaps he could just resign from the Senate?. Then he wouldn't miss anymore trips to the beach!.
Fetterman when asked re: timing . “Oh my God, I just want to go home. I've already my I've missed our entire trip to to the beach…, there's no drama that we know the votes are going to go…And I think, I don't think it's really helpful to put people here till some ungodly hour.”.

I would also argue that while Gaza ceasefire proponents would have been attacked either way, the demonization of diplomacy and tarring of war opponents as foreign stooges during with Ukraine War made it easier to cut and paste those narratives on Gaza genocide.
A lot of progressives & leftists who joined in & fed the war fever of 2022-23 need to have a long, hard look at themselves.

Not only are mean words apparently a bigger scandal than genocide, across western liberal democracies we've decided it is worth destroying free speech to save a foreign apartheid state carrying out a genocide from mean (and not so mean) words.
Completely absurd that some mean words about the IDF is a bigger controversy than that same IDF spending an entire month mowing down the unarmed, starving people it was luring with aid - which they just admitted they'd been expressly ordered to do. And that's not a coincidence.

100% do not think bookstores should make this type of decision and 150% do no think this constitutes national news.
A bookstore in San Francisco announces it will no longer sell titles by J.K. Rowling, including her popular “Harry Potter” series, due to the author’s anti-transgender views and advocacy.

I mean I suppose if Zohran wins and the United States imposes a brutal, decades long blockade on New York City designed to prevent the government from being able to meet the needs of the people than Cuba would be an apt comparison.
Show this video to Zohran. A Cuban seeing Costco for the first time gets emotional witnessing the sheer abundance. People who’ve actually lived under socialism are often the most moved by what markets can create. Capitalism is a miracle, actually.
