日本語とは全く異なる文字、発音、文法。 日本とは違う文化、価値観、教育。 子供は容赦なしに「違い」を面白おかしく指摘してくる。 自分の意思で来た訳でもない異国の地で無理矢理打たれ強くならなきゃ生きてい��なかった人相手に、ずっと住み慣れた国で暮らして来た人が何言ってるんでしょうね…
何言ってんだか 駐在キッズがどれだけ苦労して現地校に通ってるのか、差別的なことも含め、言葉通じなくてどれだけ努力してるのか知ってんのかな

個人的にはトゥインキーはそんなに好きじゃないんだけど、同じブランドのディンドンというのが好きです。 そのまま食べるんじゃなくて凍らせて食べるのが… 父がそうやって食べてたのでうちもそうやって食べるんですが、彼個人の食べ方なのかアメリカ定番の食べ方なのかは分かりません。

映画好きの人へのお土産はこういうものの方が喜ばれそう… 一昨年帰国した時はそういうの考えてなくて色々入ったハロウィン用の大きな袋を持って行ったんだけど、「ストレンジャーシングスのダスティンが食べてたやつある？」って聞かれて「そうかあああそっちの方が良かったかも！」って思った。

And to see the head of our country do this is doubly embarrassing and shameful. I hope she learns that outside, women has as much respect on them as men, and she’s a prime minister for goodness sake, not an offering from the Japanese politicians to the world leaders…

Let alone a politician (prime minister of all things!) It’s too ingrained into her since young that that’s how it is. (The younger generation is shifting away from this thank goodness) It’s just embarrassing to see what they do behind closed doors is fully on display here,

She’s acting like the hostesses at clubs where men use them as an offering to their bosses and trading partners to appease them, and those Japanese politicians are using her as just that, and she doesn’t even know that’s not how she should be treated and act as an individual,

I was hoping she’d change all that, but the disappointment of realizing she’s too deep in the mindset set by old Japanese men who only sees women as comfort things for them and not as a individual with her own mind…

What she doesn’t understand is that that’s not the case everywhere else in the world, so doing the same thing she’s been doing in Japan is not going to work outside, it’s just embarrassing.

She’s probably been expected to “lift up” men around her all her life (as in make them look good to stoke their egos), and in order to reach her position she had to cater to the powerful men, acting in a way they think women should act.
