Upland squirrels (Sundasciurus tahan) are endemic to Peninsular Malaysia. Formerly considered to be a subspecies of the Slender squirrel (Sundasciurus tenuis) until molecular studies in 2010 clearly showed the two to be separate species.

Anderson's squirrels (Callosciurus quinquestriatus) are native to China and Myanmar. This distinctly marked species occurs in mountain forests in the higher elevations, but can also be found in the lowlands. Listed as threatened.

The best way to start and finish the day is with a grateful heart. 🤗

Himalayan marmots (Marmota himalayana) can be found in the high elevations of Nepal, India, Tibet, and China. This species of the ground squirrel digs deep burrows to hibernate in for the winter. Their thick fur coat helps keep out the worst of the Himalayan weather.

Maritime striped squirrels, aka eastern striped squirrels, (Tamiops maritimus) can be found in southern and eastern China. Occurs in two general forest types, evergreen broad-leaved forest and mixed mesophytic forest. This species lives in several protected areas.

Père David's rock squirrel (Sciurotamias davidianus) can be found throughout central China. This species occupies rocky habitats and constructs dens within the crevices of these habitats. Present in several protected areas.

Kaibab squirrels (Sciurus aberti kaibabensis) are found only in northern Arizona, North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park and Kaibab National Forest. This subspecies of the Abert's squirrel features: long ear tufts, dark charcoal-gray body, and a white tail.

Grey-bellied squirrels (Callosciurus caniceps) can be found in Thailand, Myanmar, and West Malaysia. This species occurs in a variety of habitats including primary and secondary forests. Eight subspecies are recognized.
