Plan Commission approved Chicago Park District's proposal for DuSable Park at 451 DuSable Lake Shore Drive on the Near North Side. The $13 million project will create open space, pathways and other recreational amenities on an undeveloped 3.44-acre lakefront peninsula.

Plan Commission approved 2501 N Clark LLC's proposed six-story mixed-use building at 2501 N. Clark St. in Lincoln Park. The $9 million project includes 20 mixed-income residences and 3,775 square feet of retail space.

Landmarks Commission approved a preliminary recommendation for the Central YMCA Headquarters, 19 S. LaSalle St. Built in 1893 with a 1913 addition, it's one of two remaining Loop buildings designed by architect William Le Baron Jenney, known as "the father of the skyscraper."

Landmarks Commission approved a preliminary recommendation for the Roger Brown Home and Studio at 1926 N. Halsted St. in Lincoln Park. From 1974-95, the two-story building was the residence of artist Roger Brown, who helped establish the Imagist movement in Chicago in the 1960s.

Plan Commission approved PO 55 LLC's proposed office-to-residential conversion at the Pittsfield Building, located at 55 E. Washington St. in the Loop. The $160 million project would repurpose the landmark building's vacant office space to create 214 mixed-income residences.

To be built in phases, the $8 billion project includes up to 10,000 mixed-income residences, retail and office uses, a half-mile of improved riverfront and more than 6 acres of public open space. The Near South Side project is expected to create more than 5,000 permanent jobs.
