#OnThisDay we mark #VJDay80.In his speech in the House of Commons on 15 Aug 1945, as Leader of the Opposition, Churchill declared, "Total war has ended in absolute victory" & that victory had brought with it "the hopes, joys & blessings of almost all mankind."
