My white whale: a working Apple Newton MessagePad 2000 with a working fax modem. Found one! The screen had severe ghosting (fixed with a full recalibration) and the internal backup battery had leaked (thankfully, minimal damage). It's now a perfectly quirky piece of PDA history.

On the bench: a 1987 AT&T Cordless 5300. The handset wouldn't charge or ring. Corroded contacts in the cradle, a dead speaker, and the classic "won't hold a channel" issue. Cleaned, replaced, and aligned the PLL. Now it's ready for some long-forgotten gossip.

Just revived a 1992 Motorola MicroTAC Lite. The NiCd battery was a brick, the screen had lines. Desoldered the old battery, wired in a new LiPo with a protection circuit, and reflowed the LCD connections. It powers on! The "beep-boops" are glorious.
