My grandfather worked until the day he died 11 years ago and he was an air force veteran. He had to work as armed security to pay for his colon cancer treatments after he retired. My grandma had to work too. She also died of cancer. Both lived most of their lives on base.
Just one lifetime ago in the United States, our grandfathers could buy a home, buy a car, have 3 to 4 children, keep their wives at home, take annual vacations, and then retire… all on one middle-class salary. What happened?.

It took me THREE MONTHS to get my survival goal for MARCH fulfilled. Please do not let my July expenses not get met during DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH. Please let me pay my bills on time and go grocery shopping like we should all be able to do without financial blocks.

Wait until they find out the average wait to get DXed with a "rare" (usually just means it mostly affects women and others with reproductive organs which should be able to sustain pregnancy if healthy) condition is TEN YEARS.
One of the most fascinating things to see these past few months has been the sheer number of people who truly believe the state automatically hands you support (particularly benefits) upon receipt of a diagnosis. They cannot conceive a world where this doesn't happpen.
