It is important to note that without an electricity tariff structure that is acceptable to most/all stakeholders of NESI which they are willing, and able to consistently pay, Nigeria’s electricity sector will continue to be in crisis - no matter the reforms thrown at it.

Top of the challenge is the lack of government’s willingness and capacity to lead an open, inclusive stakeholder engagement to agree on a implementable tariff structure. Another challenge is the dereliction of duty by the industry regulator.
