On 23 September my family came together to celebrate my mother Sharada's 95th birthday. Radiant in a new pink silk saree, surrounded by her family, fighting to win a game of caroms. How blessed we are to have her with us.

I am in Amritsar, Punjab at the 23 conference of the adolescent health chapter of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. I delivered the coveted Bhave-Nair oration named for 2 adolescent health gurus & was feted in a traditional Indian ceremony. I am humbled by my peers’ recognition!
