Hi, all. I write jokes for TV, but not long ago I was a financial analyst. I had my Series 7. For those who say Fran Drescher or any SAG-AFTRA member should stop whining and appreciate what they have, let me give you a lesson in capitalism. 🧵

Diversifying and Decolonising Economics (D-Econ) regularly curates alternative reading lists. The D-Econ team does so by drawing on works by scholars who tend to be ignored by the larger economics …

Very funny that some economists are like “you aren’t allowed to pay attention to heterodox economists. Not fair!” Instead of, like, examining why their ideas don’t seem to be satisfactorily answering any of the world’s most pressing questions.

This economics for emancipation study group has been giving me life, too — esp as I transition out of grad school and seek to embrace community even more. The study group is keeping me sharp and it’s so fun to be learning new shit that’s so applicable to my life. I’m grateful

Just left bi-weekly study group held the homie @julianakilrose and realizing one of the things I miss most about having a political home is learning with like-minded and/or aspiring folk to be in praxis of a politic as individuals with our respective communities

We lost an economist for emancipation today. May we develop more economists fighting for working people! Thank you @WSpriggs and condolences to your loved ones ❤️ 🕊️

Bill Spriggs was one of a kind in that he never shied away from taking the Fed — and the economics profession more broadly — to task for its entire approach, and the impact it's had on Black workers in particular. This stuff was never really polite to say

The overall point is: Marx's theory of value & theory of exploitation are powerful tools for understanding deep structural features of capitalism. Conventional approaches cannot achieve the same understanding of patterns of exploitative social relations & injustice. (22/n)
