Our new paper is online now in @JGRBiogeo and open access! We focused on continental scale drivers of lateral DOC transport (LCT-DOC) from terrestrial to aquatic ecosystems at continental scales. https://t.co/W6dayprcxe 1/5

Just because the design is accessible, doesn’t mean the science isn’t cutting edge 😉

Does @carnegiescience have cutting edge technology? Yes! Can we also put together a pilot experiment with coolers and a sous vide? Absolutely! Our summer interns are amazing. Note the creative duct tape "cable management" for the syringes!

A successful week at #AGU22 ! Really enjoyed presenting in the Advances in Land C Cycle Modeling session this morning alongside some great talks. Also got to bring our amazing undergrad researcher @evadeegann to present her first poster (ever)! 🎉🎉

I'm presenting my research at the #AGU22 conference in Chicago today! I'll be in the Global Environmental Change section at board 0727. Come ask me about drought, WUE, and LCT :)))

I've been using Mendeley Desktop daily for years, & have an annotated library of thousands of pdfs. Today, I switched to Zotero. Here's a 🧵of tips on how to do this, if you're also tired of Elsevier's BS and want to make the switch w/minimal effort while maintaining workflow.

So what? •Relying on simple relationships between precip or temp and LCT-DOC to make predictions could be misleading. •Large scale models of LCT-DOC should extend beyond soils and include vegetation dynamics that drive large scale variation in ecosystem C content. 5/5

Plant traits, particularly water use efficiency, also impacted how LCT-DOC responded to climate drivers, demonstrating the role of vegetation as a top down control on carbon export. 4/5

While precip was the strongest driver of LCT-DOC, we also saw an inverse relationship between LCT-DOC and air temp. However, seemingly simple relationships between LCT-DOC, precip, and temp were the product of complex responses in underlying processes. 3/5

We developed a conceptual framework of LCT-DOC and a coupled terrestrial-aquatic C and hydrology process model. We ran model experiments to partition the importance of LCT-DOC drivers including total annual precip, air temp, and plant traits, which interact across scales. 2/5

I’ll be at #JASM22 presenting a poster on our coupled terrestrial-aquatic process model aimed at quantifying lateral C transport (LCT) from terrestrial to aquatic ecosystems. We compare drivers, responses, and explore spatial patterns of LCT vs. fate. Wed, 530-730pm, board 164

Today is #WomeninScienceDay, and my former dept head just asked me if I would be ok being removed as a coauthor from a paper I worked on for more than a year. With the ongoing discussions about academic misconduct and abuse, I feel it's the right time to share my experience.

Just a reminder that preparing a poster takes a lot of time and effort. It’s super important to interact with presenters who aren’t getting much traffic so they don’t feel like all of that work was for nothing. #AGU21

than mental illness that diminishes productivity. It often encourages individuals with “productive” forms of mental illness not to pursue help. Below the surface level, there are many ways that this negatively impacts long-term productivity, with serious personal consequences.

This is a really important story about how the impacts of mental illness on productivity can vary. I think mental illness masquerading as productivity and dedication is hard to understand unless you’ve been there. To many people this manifestation is less problematic than 1/2
