Cayde laughed at the reaction, gently struggling his apprentice so he could look him in the eye, his voice soft. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you have a crush on me.”

“I may joke about many things but I wouldn’t tease someone like that. Plus, I’ve noticed how much you’ve been doing for the Vanguard lately.” Cayde pauses his affections as he looks at Axal, gently nudging the other’s nose with his face. “No falling asleep handsome.”

He let’s out a soft chuckle as he continues combing Axal’s hair: “Sounds like you want to be around me as much as possible. What about being my apprentice? That way, you’ll be around me at all times, if I need help that is.”
