Golden shovels full of Carolina soil were raised by Bishop McGuinness High School stakeholders during the athletic center project groundbreaking ceremony. The high school is adding six tennis courts, synthetic turf, track improvements and other upgrades:

A Charlotte couple's small traditional wooden sculptures called wooden saints are symbols of their Catholic faith and cultural heritage. They will be sharing them with the public through a special exhibition opening Aug. 2 at Mint Museum Randolph.
