We could just have public ownership instead of the taxpayer paying Octopus £1 billion to buy Bulb! Now is the perfect time to set up a state owned energy supplier (like EDF in France which has kept bill rises to only 4%)

@CatHobbs @mattzarb Won’t it cost the taxpayer more if it goes to the wall ? The costs are added on standing charges on customers bills the whole industry needs to be regulated properly so companies like this don’t go bust

@CatHobbs @SaHreports The same reason for an oil company tax, so WE can invest in a renewable energy public utility, and get future gains re-invested on our behalf. Not shareholder dividends. Same for all utilities, these are essential to life, not profit..

@CatHobbs The government should buy bulb and the whole country change their energy supplier when their contracts expire, billions in profits for the country cheaper for us

@CatHobbs @tianran The Tories are ideologically averse to public ownership, except of risk and debt. Public money in private hands is their filthy mantra.

@CatHobbs And today Bulb send a threatening email to their loyal customers who believed in their company values ! T&Cs changing , threats about debt management etc. Very sad - I thought they were a company with ethics and values I shared!

@CatHobbs @IanByrneMP This would be a great idea if… and a big IF, you weren’t completely guided by ideology. The ideology of small state good, big state bad.

@CatHobbs But no lovely money for Tory friends on the boards of these companies if we nationalise. Think of the Tory donors. How will their buy their second solid gold Ferrari without tax breaks and tories ferrying tax payer money into their accounts?

@CatHobbs Aren't we still paying the Tory who owned Bulb £250k a year to see the process through. Nationalise it would be great...

@CatHobbs EDF only increased by 4% because they are using the profits from the cash cow known as the UK to fund it All down to the corrupt tory government who are more interested in lucrative investment returns or the promise of board membership once their MP stints are over. #toryscumout
