Making something sound more complicated than it really is is a good obfuscation strategy. I find this adage to ring true (especially in crypto): when something feels too good to be true, it probably is.

/11 So, although Phantom is done - I am not. I am taking a break and focusing on making The Crypt and all the Crypties successful. I will pick up the tools again and when I do, The Crypties will be the first to benefit. Their support has meant the world to me. Cheers 🍻

/10 Lesson Number 4: There can be no half measures and you cannot go it alone. Crypto is particularly unforgiving. It requires constant and relentless progress and communication. More than one person can do alone and the concentration cannot be scattered.

/9 Lesson Number 3: Timing > Team > Product From least forgiving to most. If you miss a hype cycle, it could mean the difference between raising $1,000 and $10m. You can always modify a core team, even if it is difficult and full of drama. You can completely pivot a product.

/8 But when things don't go to plan, you will find out very quickly. Do your best to only surround yourself with a small group of people who want to build and add value in any market environment or hype cycle - it will make your life a whole lot easier.

/7 As a founder of an active project that's getting attention, you will find it hard to distinguish between a real friend who will fight alongside you in the trenches and a leech who will suck you dry and add no real value. ctd.

/6 Lesson Number 2: Everyone is your best friend until they're not. This one was particularly hard for me to fully grasp and accept as I like to think of myself as an authentic person. ctd.

/5 In an industry where almost every participant is looking for the next best thing and life-changing gains, this is a significant challenge. Attention is the real currency that's traded in this game and if you cannot hold it, it will all come crashing down.

/4 The problem is, the better you are at building hype the higher the expectations become of your community. In this instance, success begets more complications for the builders. ctd.

/3 Lesson Number 1: Hype is the fuel of crypto but also a house of cards. "Build it and they will come" is an adage not quite fit for crypto. It may work for certain utility focused projects (like a NFT platform), but for others building hype is critical. ctd.

/2 Before I jump into some specifics, it's worth noting (as with all things) that what I say is my opinion based on my personal experience. Advice is not one-size fits all - you should always think about your specific context and apply appropriate lessons.
